Joseph "Ray" Raymond Mitchell

Joseph Raymond Mitchell passed away on November 25, 2019 at the age of 100. Ray was born in Princeton, Texas in March, 1919. He was a World War II veteran and Bronze Star recipient, serving in the Army from October 1941, until September 1945, as a Sgt. with the 75th Joint Assault Signal Company. He was in combat with the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippines Liberation Campaign, and received a Bronze star in January 1945 for heroic achievement. He married his beloved wife Imogene a few months after returning from the War, and they were married for 64 years.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife Imogene, by his parents Joseph and Laura Mitchell, and by his sisters Vera Start and Faye Allen, and niece Kay Noland. He is survived by nieces Yvonne Specht and Sherry McShan, and nephew David Stark.
Ray was a long time member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church. Services will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 10:00 am in the chapel of the Church at 642 Brookhurst Dr, Dallas, Texas 75218. A private burial will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
