
Josephine Interrante Emmett, 91, of Dallas passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed many special times with her family. She was stylish, loved to travel, enjoyed being with her many friends, and maintained a wide range of interests throughout her life. She was born in Dallas on September 13, 1922, youngest of ten children of Rosario and Antoinette Interrante. She graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in 1941. In 1946, she married Sam Emmett who preceded her in death. Together they ran Emmett's Grocery store on Corinth Street and were long time residents of Oak Cliff. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Interrante Miller and Effie Interrante Ventura and her brothers, Tony Interrante, Jasper Interrante, Frank Interrante, Joe Interrante, Pete Interrante, Blace Interrante and Ross Interrante, Jr. She lived in Dallas her entire life and raised four children. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Emmett and wife Judy Timpa Emmett, of Huntsville, Texas and Ross Anthony Emmett of Dallas; her daughters, Josephine Emmett Smith and husband Kevin Smith, of Huntsville, Texas; and Mary Ann Behan and husband John Behan of Dallas; five grandchildren, D'Anne Emmett Spence and husband Chad Spence, of Arlington, VA, Norman Matthew Smith II and fiancee Dana Kooi, of Huntsville, Texas, Carlee Ann Smith, of Huntsville, Texas, Samuel Kevin Smith, of San Marcos, Texas, and Christopher Joseph Smith, of Huntsville, Texas; and two great grandchildren, Samantha Jordan Spence and Emmett Hudgins Spence. She was an active member of Texas Business Women of Oak Cliff, Oak Cliff Rejebian Book Club, Antique Study Club, Lecture Luncheon Club, and a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for more than 30 years.
