Born on June 23, 1945, in Margão, Goa, India, to Levino Vicente Dias and Bernadette D'Silva Dias, Jossee was one of 12 siblings, and his early life in Goa was filled with the warmth of family and the rich traditions of his homeland. He graduated from Escola Commercial in Margão, earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Poona, and was a squadron leader in Mocidade Portuguesa.
In 1970, Jossee embarked on a new chapter of his life by moving to the United States, where he graduated with an MBA in Hospital Administration from the University of Dallas and went on to work for Stanley Medical Supply. His passion for entrepreneurship led him to open three businesses: a medical supply distribution business (Omega Medical Supply), a dry cleaning business (JP Cleaners), and, finally, Goa Sausage, a renowned supplier of Goa sausage and chorizo – and the only purveyor of authentic Goa sausage that was USDA-approved.
Jossee was a proud father of his son, Joshua (m. Allison), and a loving grandfather to his two grandsons, Rhodes and Campbell, who were rays of light in his life. He was also a brother to 11 siblings: the late Justina D’Souza (m. late Americo D’Souza), the late Alex F. Dias (m. late Conceicão F. Dias), the late Filu Dias (m. Farida Dias), the late Leandro Dias (m. late Philomena Dias), Cecilia Furtado (m. late Ivor Furtado), Virginia Mergulhão (m. Edwin Mergulhão), the late Etelbert Dias (m. late Beryl Dias), Yvonne Pinto (m. late Joseph Pinto), Ezella DeSouza (m. Oscar DeSouza), Lea Menezes (m. Orlando Menezes), and Caesar Dias (m. Blanche Dias).
