Jovita was a lifetime resident of Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School and it was there that she met her life-long love, Ambro Arista.
The two were married from 1954-2012, 58 wonderful years! Jovita became a mother in 1956 when she had her first son Charles, and again in 1959 when she had her second son, David. She was a wonderful, loving mother to her two sons as they grew up. She cheered on and supported her sons though their little league sports and remained active in their school PTAs from elementary through high school. Jovita was just as involved during their college years.
Jovita loved sports. She played softball, volleyball, and was an avid bowler in many area leagues for many years. She was the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan that ever lived.
Jovita and Ambro shared their love together in Dallas; she was a true Texan. She loved dancing, going to parties, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s birthday celebrations and sporting events. She wouldn’t have missed any of those occasions as she adored her family.
Jovita loved her dear friends. She had many, and was a member of “Las Chicas” social group and she participated in a regular prayer group where she and her friends prayed the rosary for others. She also enjoyed being with her sister, Mary Lou Hernandez. The two loved to go shopping, out to eat, and just be in each other’s company. They were not only sisters, but the best of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ambro Arista of 58 years as well as her oldest grandson, Christian Arista. Jovita is survived by her eldest son, Charles and his wife Yvonne, her youngest son David and his wife Ruth from Seattle, Washington, and her grandchildren: Amy Arista Billingsley and her husband Chris, Marisa Arista Falkowski and her husband Philip, her youngest grandson, Andrew Arista, and her adored great granddaughter, Annistyn Marisa Billingsley. Jovita is also survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Lou Hernandez, and wonderful brother, John Silva, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
