Julia Anne “Judy” Mighell, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2018. She was born on December 12, 1934, in Dallas to Robert L. and Irene S. Carstarphen. After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1953, she earned a degree in Education from Southern Methodist University in 1957, where she was also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She taught fifth grade in the Dallas Independent School District from 1957 to 1963, at Sudie L. Williams Elementary and other schools in the Dallas area.
For the remainder of her life, Judy devoted her time, skills, education, and experience to raising a family, a role for which she was remarkably and wonderfully suited. She married Ken Mighell in 1961, celebrated 56 years of marriage in 2017, and raised two children into adults with intelligence, wit, and a terrific sense of humor. She was a loving and caring wife and mother, and we miss her very much.
Judy is survived by her husband Ken Mighell, son and son-in-law Tom Mighell and Kenny Coupel, all of Dallas, as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews from the Dallas area. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betsy Mighell, sister Patricia White, and brothers-in-law Bob White and Don Mighell.
Family and friends will celebrate Judy’s memory February 25, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, with a reception to follow in the L.N. Sparkman Family Lounge.
