Born in Georgetown Texas, he was a lifelong Dallas resident and Dallas Cowboy fan. He attended Saint Mary of Carmel Catholic School. He graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, TX Class of 1958. From 1958-1965 Julian served in the United States Marine Corps “Reserve” ranked Lance Corporal E-3, gunner instructor. His motto and creed, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Semper Fidelis!” He married the love of his life on September 30, 1961. They shared 5 children together, and they were to celebrate 54 years of marriage this month. He was a Papa to 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He loved his music and playing with his band mates, “The Jokers” for 20 years. He played rhythm guitar and was a lead singer. He led the Children’s Choir at St. Edwards Catholic Church for 20 years. Father Francis Becker always told Julian that he most definitely sang his way into heaven. He worked and retired from Flex-O-Tech, Inc., from 1969 to 2001. After retiring, he became a school crossing guard for the City of Farmers Branch, TX. He loved being able to ensure the children’s safety to and from school. He made many fast friends with the children he crossed, as well as the teachers, principal, and parents of the school. He loved to bowl and he was a member of several leagues. He was a strong man of faith and he belonged to the Rosary Group through St. Monica Catholic Church. The group is led by Maureen Wijeweera and many other friends who meet weekly to pray to the Blessed Mother for her intercession for strength, guidance, and to help all in need. They are amazing prayer warriors.
He always had a helping hand, he opened his home and family to those in need, and he welcomed everyone as if they were his own. He greeted everyone with a handshake and a smile. He was the most loving husband, amazing father, wonderful grandfather, and best friend to many.
His favorite phase was “the whole thing about it.” Well, the whole thing about it is he will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Our God is a merciful God. Julian left this world without suffering surrounded by his loved ones, and he went peacefully.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Julian’s life in their own way by raising a glass of their favorite drink, preferably “Budweiser.”
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp).
