

She was born on July 15, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to parents Roberta and Arthur Gay. Karen attended Highland Park High School, and earned her degree from Texas Tech University. She married Louis Hurt on August 21, 1965.
Karen worked as a teacher for a year at DISD, then with several preschool/kindergarten facilities – the most recent being Rainbow Connection in Richardson, Texas.
She had a passion for creating metal sculptures with oxy-acetylene torch and ceramics using her kiln. She will be remembered as a vibrant, gifted artist, a phenomenal mom and grandmother, a devoted wife, and a dedicated teacher.
Karen was along-time member of the Agape Life Group at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson.
Karen is preceded in death by her mother, Roberta (Greenhaw) Gay; father, Arthur M. Gay; and brother, Mitch Gay.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Louis Hurt; son, Brandon Hurt of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Kelly Bagley of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Echo-Rose Faeyn, Elliot Bagley, Bryson Bagley, Tripp Bagley, and Lucy Harris; along with numerous bonus kids and grandkids.
There are no words that will ever truly encompass her immense love for others and the vibrancy of her personality.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support, especially Felicia and the staff of Three Oaks Hospice.
A graveside service for Karen will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
