

Kenneth started life in the small west Texas town of Winters at the height of the Dust Bowl. He was the first born of Finis and Hallie and was later joined by brother, Gordon, and sister, Sara. The family moved to Oak Cliff in the midst of the Great Depression in 1938.
Kenneth graduated from Sunset High School and then earned a Business Degree from SMU. He enlisted in the Army in 1952 and became Sergeant in the 11th Airborne Division before marrying his high school sweetheart Virginia Alexander in Perkins Chapel at SMU. They added two sons Kenneth Jr. and Jeff in 1955 and 1959 and bought their first home in the Lakewood area.
Kenneth worked along side his dad in the accounting department of Southwest Stone Company in the Mercantile Bank Building through most of the 1960s. In 1968, Kenneth became Controller for the Southwest Division of the Mead Corporation and the family moved to Lake Highlands. In 1982, Mead transferred Kenneth to Orange County, California where they thoroughly enjoyed the weather, the beach, the mountains and lots of visits from Texas family and friends. In 1996, Kenneth retired and they returned to Texas buying a farm in Palestine neighboring his brother.
In the ensuing years they split time between their homes in Dallas, where they enjoyed their with two granddaughters Amber Ryan and Courtney Reyna, and in Houston close to Kenneth Jr. When Virginia passed in 2021 they had been married 66 years and still adored each other. Kenneth was an avid reader, gardener and fisherman. He passed peacefully after a short illness and was reunited with Virginia, his parents, brother and sister on October 9, 2025. Kenneth will be missed by his sons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews and all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025 in the Sparkman Memorial Chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225.
