Laurence Kelcher, 85 of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2020. He was born in New Athens, Illinois on July 20, 1934 to Gertrude Eva and Harold Kelcher. Larry married Patricia Buckley Kelcher on September 3, 1960. They came to Dallas in 1960, where he worked for Interstate Securities, Ebby Halliday Real Estate, and Southwest Land Title. They were long-time parishioners at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Larry had a passion for baseball. After high school, he was invited to try out for the St. Louis Browns baseball team. In 1953-54, he was a pitcher in minor league ball for the Abilene Blue Sox, the Borger Gassers, the Odessa Oilers, the Hot Springs Bathers, and the Clovis Pioneers. He settled in Lubbock, Texas where he met his wife of 59 years, Patricia. They have lived in the White Rock area of Dallas for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Linda Marie Loomis and Brian Michael Kelcher; grandchildren, Matt and Joseph Loomis and James and Caroline Kelcher; brothers, Norman, Gordon, David, and Paul Kelcher; and sisters, Mary Walker and Terri Bergin.
A funeral mass at St. Pius X and burial in Parker County, Texas, will be held at a later date.
