Lawrence Henry Gee was born March 1, 1944 to the parentage of the late Bertha Lee and Orin Gee in Henderson, TX. He was the third of six children. Lawrence was a proud graduate of Hill High School class of 1962.
Upon graduating from high school Lawrence attended Texas College. He relocated to Dallas, TX and embarked on several different careers.
He knew and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Lawrence made his transition from labor to reward on February 11, 2020. We are confident that he is with the Lord and we look forward to that appointed time when we will see him again. Lawrence was a long-time member of Greater Mount Hebron Bible Church.
Lawrence was a charismatic man. He had a fun, loving and outgoing nature. He had a smile that would light up a room. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He enjoyed cooking and baking. No meal was complete without him baking a dessert. Lawrence also was a wiz at making jellies, jams and preserves. Everyone raved about them every season and could not wait for a taste! He knew the importance of friendship and family. He enjoyed socializing with many of his long-time friends on the weekend. Lawrence delighted in traveling to East Texas to reconnect with family at the yearly family reunion. He was the fun, happy brother that his siblings loved deeply.
Lawrence married Gracie Dewberry Dec 27, 1966. Gracie and Lawrence enjoyed a loving relationship together. They enjoyed shopping, traveling, attending church and watching westerns on the weekends. Gracie and Lawrence were constant companions to each other. They shared many laughs, tender moments and happy times. Gracie stood firm and faithful to her precious love of over 53 years until his transition on February 11, 2020.
Lawrence was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Chantary Thomas and handsome son Lawrence Ward. He enjoyed spending time with both, engaging in fun loving conversations. The relationship with them was very dear to him.
Lawrence wore many hats throughout his life Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy and Friend. The hat he wore proudly and cherished most was “Grand Daddy”. Lawrence loved and admired Kylan Gee Wess from the moment he was born. Chantary, Kylan’s mother, often joked that her existence meant nothing once she gave birth to Kylan. Kylan and Lawrence were inseparable. Lawrence taught Kylan so much. He taught Kylan to cook, drive, manage money, how to build and cultivate relationships. Lawrence taught Kylan the importance of hard work, education and how to be a strong and supportive man. Their relationship was two-fold. He taught Kylan, but Kylan also taught him. Kylan would introduce his Granddaddy to the latest fashions, hip him to new artists and songs. The one thing Kylan introduced his Granddaddy to, which he absolutely embraced, was the social media platform Facebook. Lawrence found Facebook to be a fun place to interact with friends and family and stay updated on all things social. The foundation laid by Lawrence has built a legacy. A legacy that has provided Kylan the tools to “complete the mission” and make his Granddaddy proud.
Lawrence is proceeded in death by his parents Bertha Lee and Orin Gee, Gene Paul Gee (brother), Mary Alice and Frances Gee (sisters)
