Lew Elliot Weinstein passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, and a life well-lived. Born on October 13, 1944, in Borger, Texas, Lew grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, the only child of Arthur and Babetta Weinstein, who preceded him in death.
Lew attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. But perhaps the most significant chapter of his life began even earlier when he met Dotty, the love of his life. Their bond, formed in their teenage years, became the foundation of a 58-year marriage marked by unwavering partnership and enduring love.
Together, Lew and Dotty built a life in Dallas, Texas where they raised three children instilling in them the same values of commitment, humility, and perseverance that defined Lew’s own life. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a steady hand, Lew founded and operated Petals & Stems Florist over 50 years ago, alongside Dotty, turning a shared vision into a thriving family business that became a part of countless Dallas celebrations and milestones.
Lew was a man of few words, but his presence always spoke volumes. He showed up for his family, for his friends, and for the music that moved him. Whether it was the timeless melodies of Neil Diamond or the unexpected joy he found in Taylor Swift, Lew never stopped appreciating the soundtrack of life.
Lew is survived by his beloved wife, Dotty; his children Jeff (Ava) Weinstein, Lori (Grant) Sandground, and Brad (Keri) Weinstein; and his grandchildren Ansley and Ari Sandground, and Brice, Gabe, and Jill Weinstein. He is also remembered fondly by his extended family whose lives he touched with kindness and quiet generosity.
Lew’s life was not about grand gestures or loud declarations, but rather about being present, offering quiet support, and loving deeply. His family grieves his loss, but they carry his steady example and his deep love in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:00am at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75225.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.
