

Lillian was born to Charles and Eula Starnes. She was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from North Dallas High School. She married Derwood Odell Nichols on August 8th 1953 and the couple had 3 children. She was a sales consultant at Neiman Marcus. She also worked as an office clerk and head cashier at Busy Bee and Vance Grocery where she worked for many years. After retirement she became a member of Quietwood Baptist Church choir.
In her spare time she enjoyed her children, grandchildren and extended family. She spent MANY happy days helping her husband at their produce stand in Seagoville, Tx. In her youth she thoroughly enjoyed roller skating with her siblings and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, singing, musicals, QVC shopping, plants, pets, feeding birds, her chicken collection, her fun purses and she LOVED holidays
with Santa and his elves.
Her family and friends will always remember her as Maw Maw, Canasta Queen, Poker Face, "The person that calls you at day break to sing Happy Birthday and the one who would always send you a card" and "Santa's Best Friend".
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eula Starnes, her husband, Derwood Nichols, her son, Charles Nichols as well as her seven siblings, Henry, Bessie, Walter, Ella, Glen, Hazel
and Bush.
She is survived by her son Mervin "Gene" (Paulette) Nichols, his children Dustin, Jessica (Sarah), Rhonda, Tammy, Alan, Bobbie, Anthony and grandkids Richard, Larry, Annlynn,Elijah, Kaleb, JoJo, Eddie.
Her daughter Patricia Johnson(Earl) and her children Wendy (Bob), Rachel (Brad), Hillary (Nick), grandchildren Wylder, Jenna, Taylor, Rianna, Becka, and Nell. Her God children, Augusta (Steven) and Elizabeth and their children Austin, Skylar, Ruby and Trey.
Goddaughter Tammy, her children, Tiffany (Steven) Brittney (Kyle), their children, Brendan, Jolie, Elise, Waylon, Kingsley and Jameson.
Goddaughter Teresa (Johnny) Perke, their daughter, Brandy (Brent) their child Reese.
Lillian maintained dedicated contact with her numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She never missed sending birthday and Christmas cards to them.
A visitation for Lillian will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
