He eventually met and married Eugenia Martinez in 1960. While in the US, Luis worked in several states while Eugenia cared for their small children. They communicated via written letters while Luis was working until they eventually decided to make the move. They first moved to San Antonio, Texas and shortly thereafter they settled in Dallas, Texas where they lived out their remaining years. Luis worked many jobs from being a migrant worker in California to working over 50 years in construction.
Luis was a very resilient, independent, and family oriented man. As a family we have very fond memories of our father making mole from scratch, providing homemade flour tortillas and arroz con leche for family and friends. During Christmas time we could always count on Luis to provide guidance in making mouthwatering tamales from scratch. His grandchildren will always remember his secret chocolate candy stash and his favorite caramel lollipops that he had hidden in his side table.
Luis Gloria is proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years Eugenia Martinez de Gloria.
He is survived by his seven daughters Josefina Toscano, Maria E. Dominguez, Martha Lopez, Francisca Segura, Patricia Rodriguez, Juanita Martinez, Teresa Lopez and son, Luis Gloria Jr. He was a dedicated father, grandfather of twenty-two (22) grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was loved by and will be missed deeply by many, but it is comforting knowing that he will be welcomed into paradise with open arms and heart by his beloved wife.
