Carolyn attended the schools of Upshur County, and graduated from Bruce High School in 1965. She accepted Christ at Young Chapel A.M.E. church. She later united with Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in December of 1989 where she served as deaconess, and in several ministries including: the choir, Ladies Fellowship, Life on Life, and Comfort and Care.
She began her employment with the United States Postal Service in 1968 as a window clerk. She later held many positions including Officer in Charge of Longview, Postmaster of Corsicana, and retired as Postmaster of Duncanville in 2005. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Credit Union since 2001, and was a founding member of Oak Cliff Christian Federal Credit Union.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Jake and Lucy Goss, brothers, Glen Royce Adams and Gregory Adams, sister, Wanda Joyce Wallace, and sister-in-law Ella Adams
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughters, Tina Louise Mathis and Rhonda Ann Mathis, her granddaughter, Tatiana Mathis, her special fur babies, Rockii and Pebbles, her brothers, Arthur Adams and Michael Adams, sisters, Stella (Dames) Woods, Rochetta Lillard, and Vanessa (Ryan) Osborne, sister-in-law, Melba Dean Adams, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
