Mae lived in Long Beach, California for about six years. While in Long Beach, California, she was a member of Christ Second Baptist Church for five years. After moving back to Dallas, Texas, she became a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Mae Irving Sewell was married to the late Maple Earl Sewell for 38 years. To this union were born four wonderful children, in whom she dearly loved and cherished: Sherlene Sewell, Ronald Earl Sewell, Janice Sewell and Taneshia Dugger (Scott).
The following siblings preceded Mae Sewell in death, Frank Irving, Avis Miller and Melva Robinson. She leaves to cherish her memories, her brother, Lonnie Irving and sister, Mildred Hill; in addition to her four children, she leaves eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, with a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
On Mama Mae’s 89th Birthday, she mentioned two things that were most vital to her regarding her family… She said, “I want you to love one another and help each other when you can.”
Her whole mission in life was to love and care for her family and that is exactly what she did!
A host of family and friends celebrated Mae Sewell’s 90th Birthday on September 14th, 2019. The Lord allowed us an additional 112 days to spend with her before she took her last breath. Thank you Heavenly Father, for blessing us with the honor and privilege of knowing, loving and being a part of “Mama” Mae Sewell’s life!
“…The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.” – Psalm 112:6
