

Margaret “Maggie” Mellady, 80, passed away on Sunday 26 April 2015. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on 1 July 1934. She is preceded in death by parents, Fabian Edward and Mildred Ruth Kidder Tompkins; sister, Mildred Ann Tompkins; and nephew, Michael James Tompkins. Maggie graduated from West High School in Mpls, Class of 1951. She was married to Stephen J. McKay, 1958-1967. Maggie moved to Dallas in 1968 to marry Eugene Mellady, and they had 46 wonderful years together. Her interests were WWII; art and artists; children’s books; dreams; collecting postcards and recipes; animals; old movies; and reading mystery stories. She was a longtime member of the North Dallas Woman’s Club and a Gallon Blood Donor. Maggie retired from Corporate Relocation, Inc. in 2004. She cherished her family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put others first. Maggie is survived by husband, Eugene Jerome Mellady; daughter, Kelly McKay; daughter, Ann Mellady Smith and husband, Kevin; grandsons Hugh and Noah Smith, all of Dallas; brother, James Fabian Tompkins and wife, Kay; niece-in-law, Kelly Eberley; niece, Kathryn Kieser and husband, Brian, and their daughter, Zelda, all of the Mpls area. Maggie is also survived by step-children: Laura Hatford and husband, Alan, of Crown Point, IN; James Mellady and wife, Jill, of Canyon Country, CA; Diane Hernandez of Hammond, IN; and Maureen Mellady of Crown Point, IN. Grandchildren: Jason Hatford; Jennifer Creighton and husband Zachary; Stephanie and Brendan Mellady, Lindy and Malissa Hernandez; and great-granddaughter, Tessa Hatford. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas. If you can, in memory of Maggie, please wear her favorite color green on Thursday or Friday.
