She moved to Dallas with her parents and siblings in the early 1900's. She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Samuel Miller, mother, Abbie Franklin Miller, brother, Franklin Miller, sister, Francis Miller McCarley and husband, Claude T. Carpenter. She is survived by her children Robert (Beverly), Jim (Marsha), Patty DeGuire (Daniel) and Gary (Julie). Marguerite has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who she loved and bragged about whenever the chance arose.
Marguerite graduated from Oak Cliff High School, went on to complete business school and later obtained her dental assistant degree from Baylor School of Dentistry in Dallas. She was a long-time member of Park Cities Baptist Church, joining with her husband in the early 1940's. Marguerite taught Sunday school for the primary children, led the 4 and 5-year-old class and for many years she cared for the infants in the Park Cities nursery. She was also a member of her Sunday school class for over 70 years.
Marguerite loved her family and provided strength, support and affection to all of them. She was a devoted mother and wife. Marguerite also had a special place in her heart for her friends from church and her special neighbors and loved each one dearly. She loved animals and each of her children's dogs were like her own, often making her special cornbread for them. She lived her life serving the Lord and was compassionate to others with a selfless love that will live on in the hearts and lives of every person who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Pkwy, Dallas, TX.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to VNA Hospice. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Park Cities Baptist Church, Scottish Rite Hospital or a local animal shelter of your choice.
