Marianne Dattolico Sondak, much-loved cousin and friend went home to God on Saturday, February 7, 2026, after a long illness. She was born September 20, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to William and Agnes (Schurr) Dattolico. She attended St. Pancras School and Our Lady of Wisdom Academy in Queens, New York.
After working in Glendale near her home for a few years, Marianne ventured into big city and started her long career with Mobil Oil Company in 1966 in New York City and worked in Employee Relations until she moved to Dallas in 1987 as head of Mobil’s Compensation and Benefits Program. She enjoyed, in her own words, “empowering others…to find positive solutions”.
Although Marianne retired from Mobil in 2000 and claimed she “hadn’t worked a day in this century”, she was not suited to be idle. She began volunteer work at St. Rita Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister and Prayer Chain head. As a breast cancer survivor herself, she volunteered at a cancer clinic as well.
Family and friends were always welcome in her home. She enjoyed cooking big dinners - pasta was her favorite - and hosting summer days around the pool. Her special “friends” were her puppies - they were her pride and joy.
Marianne is survived by her cousins Charlene Ibrom and husband Ronnie and Carla Ratcliff and her husband Pat and their children. The family would like to thank her caregivers who helped her live comfortably at home as long as possible.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on February 20, 2026, at St. Rita Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas. Interment will be in New York. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
