

Beloved husband and father Marin Gonzales has gone home to be with our Lord. He left peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021 surrounded by his wife of fifty-four years Rosario Gonzales Ramos and his children Abel Gonzales, Sophia Bradford Gonzales, and Roselba Carrillo Gonzales. He is preceeded in death by his son Marin Gonzales Jr. and his parents Juan and Elva Gonzales.
Known as a leader, a friend and entertainer, he always cared very much for his family, his friends, his Mariachi members and loved both of his countries U.S.A. and Mexico. He was the first son of many wonderful children born to Juan Gonzales Treviño + and Eva Gonzales De La Paz +.
He was originally from Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico and a resident of Dallas since 1964, Marin Gonzales was a proud, hardworking and talented entrepreneur who could light up every place with his friendly enthusiastic smile. He was a pioneer of Mariachi music in Dallas during the 1960s. Marin Gonzales founded el Mariachi Los Rayos de Guanajuato and performed professional authentic Mariachi music locally, statewide, and nationally, for over fifty years. He hosted the first weekly "Noche de Aficionados" Talent Show at the Marine Theater in Ft. Worth, Texas in the late 1960s. He was the first Spanish Language Radio announcer in Dallas during the 1960s. He had his own program at 6:00 A.M. on Sundays, on KVIL, a popular radio station in Dallas where he knew celebrity DJ Ron Chapman.
He and his Mariachis Rayos de Guanajuato performed for several of our nations presidents including Ronald Reagan, George H. and W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. His mariachis provided music for all occasions at countless, weddings, quinceañeras, concerts, and many events locally and nationally. In addition Marin and his Mariachis appeared in TV commercials and in a “Barney” the dinosaur movie. Marin was extremely proud of his Mexican heritage and kept our Mexican culture and traditions alive through his professional authentic Mariachi performances and Spanish-language music. Marin has left a great legacy to all his family and public who had the privilege of enjoying his performances and having his friendship. We are all better for having known Marin. He will always be with us in spirit.
