Marjory “Margie” Dale Reynolds Lattimore departed this life on earth to begin her new life in Heaven on Oct. 10, 2018, just days shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas on October 15, 1920 to Arthur Lee Reynolds and Gladys Jameson, and was raised in Morillton, Arkansas. She was told and always believed her birthday to be Nov 30, and was honored and celebrated as such her entire life. She moved from Arkansas to Oak Cliff in Dallas, TX in 1948, and remained in Oak Cliff until 2013, when she moved to assisted living in NE Dallas.
She was married during WWll to Floyd Thompson, to which she had 3 children, and later married Miller Lattimore, and had 3 more children. Both preceded her in death.
Our mother was a mathematician, and worked most her life as a bookkeeper for companies such as The Associates, General Mills, Levitz Furniture, and Consolidated Foods. During WWll, she first worked for the USO, then later worked at the Arkansas Ordnance Plant in Jacksonville, Arkansas, making ammunition for the war effort.
Our mother loved flower gardening. Her favorite flower was the Iris, and she had one of the most beautiful iris gardens in the area! She was an excellent and meticulous seamstress and made most of our clothes growing up. She was an artist, and enjoyed painting. She loved antiques and would spend hours in antique malls. She loved birds and squirrels, and enjoyed feeding them and would watch them for hours on end. But her true animal love was cats. Despite having an allergy, she always had indoor cats, but would also feed all the feral cats in the neighborhood! She was a petite and feisty lady with auburn hair. She had some Irish blood, and had a spirited temper to match! There was never a dull moment growing up! She had a strong will to survive whatever was thrown at her … breast cancer, strokes, heart attack, broken hip. She always loved music and loved to dance. When no longer able to stand, she would dance in her wheelchair! Every morning she would have her coffee in one hand, and a Biscotti in the other, while she waited for her bacon and cream of wheat! She loved the Lord, and was a lifelong Southern Baptist.
Our mother had a long and full life, to which she left several generations of family. She gave birth to 6 children, of which she is survived by, son Jeffrey Thompson (Nancy), daughters Karen Spencer (David), Peggy Wolf (Evan), Kirsten Solomon (Tom), and Karol Johnson (Keith), and son Jay Lattimore (Shara), and niece Linda Morrison whom she adopted as a baby and raised as her own. She was Meemaw to 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the Villages of Lake Highlands, where Marjory Lattimore was a resident for the last 5 years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter.
Services will be at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
