Martha “Marty” Healey Eisenlohr was born on August 21, 1930, in St. Louis, MO. The only child of Warren Cobb Healey and Thelma Betty Lyons Healey, she was a graduate of Highland Park High School, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colorado College and received an MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1979.
The joy of her life was her family. She married Dr. John Edward Eisenlohr on February 6, 1954, and was a devoted wife for more than 68 years. Together they had three children. She is survived by her husband, her children David Warren Eisenlohr (Shelley), Gainor Eisenlohr and Ellen Eisenlohr Dorn (Jim); six grandchildren, Michael Eisenlohr (Lindsey), Christopher Eisenlohr (Anna), Jennifer Dorn, Peter Dorn, Matthew Dorn (Anna) and Stephen Dorn; and three great-grandchildren, Emily Michael Eisenlohr, Christopher Graham Eisenlohr and Evelyn Sue Eisenlohr.
A devoted Episcopalian, she was a 77+-year member of Church of the Incarnation and active in numerous ministries over her years there. She was also active in PTA, writing Search the Scriptures Bible Studies, managing funds for various missionaries, the Dallas County Medical Society Auxiliary and other community endeavors.
In the 1950s, she was a founding member of a Bridge Club of 8 couples and those 16 participants became lifelong friends, keeping the club going until the present day, with New Year’s Eve celebrations eventually transitioning to luncheon celebrations and bridge going by the wayside as the friendships flourished. Her love of travel took her around the globe with her husband. She loved puzzles and the game of Mahjong in her retirement years. She also enjoyed genealogy research, compiling impressive and comprehensive family histories of all four sides of her family, dating back to the six relatives who came to America on the Mayflower.
A memorial service will be held at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, at 10 am on Tuesday, November 1, with a reception following in the Welcome Center.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a contribution in her honor to The Incarnation Foundation, 3966 McKinney Ave., Dallas, Texas, 75204 or to UT Southwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, TX, 75391-0888 to support frontotemporal dementia research.
