

Meredith Sue McLeskey Shipp passed away February 26, 2018 at the age of 77. She resided at the Forum in Dallas where she enjoyed eating daily with friends and was well cared for. Meredith was born December 20, 1940 in Savannah Georgia to the late Gilbert T. McLeskey and the late Mary Edith Walden McLeskey. She lived with her loving grandparents most of her youth in Savannah, Georgia and was given the nickname “Bonnie” by her grandfather, “Pop” when she was just a young girl. Bonnie married Billy Bud Shipp on November 7, 1959 in Dallas Texas. They resided in Tyler and Dallas before moving to DeSoto, Texas to raise their children. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, hosting family gatherings and supporting her kid’s activities. She worked at Cedar Valley College as an executive assistant for 22 years and retired at 71. Her fried chicken, chocolate pie and chicken spaghetti recipes were legendary and closely held family secrets. She was anxiously anticipating the birth of her first great grandchild and will be remembered lovingly as “G’ma” by Jeremy Shipp and his wife Sarah and Jordan Shipp and his wife Lindsey and “Mawma” by Paxton and Brody Baird. Along with her grandsons, she is survived her son, William Lance Shipp of Colleyville, Texas and her daughter, Helen Suzanne Shipp Baird of Dallas, Texas and her sister Nancy McLeskey Higginbotham and brother Steven McLeskey and her nieces and nephew. There will be a private family burial at Laurel Land. Friends and Family are welcome to attend a memorial service at 3:00PM Thursday, Feb 29, Preston Road Church of Christ 6409 Preston Road Dallas, Texas. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
