

Mildred Lee Dowdy Chambers (Newby) was born on July 10, 1938 in Kaufman, Texas to the late H. S. & Francis Newby. She passed away at the age of 83 on June 16, 2022 at home with family by her side in Mesquite, Texas.
Mildred is survived by her son James Dowdy & wife Deanna of Wills Point, TX; grandson Ray Dowdy of Dallas, TX; granddaughter Eve & grandson Dane of Wills Point, TX. She is also survived by her sister Betty Braddock & husband Bob of Mesquite, TX; nieces Vicki Dubon of Oklahoma, Valerie Young (Greg) of Georgetown & nephew Sterling Dowdy (Margaret) of Bedford, TX. Mildred is also survived by her step-daughters Debbie Plouffe (Jeff), Kathy Glen (David) & Traci (Kenneth). She is survived by many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren & step-great grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by friends of many years whom she loved dearly, (too many to name) including four special friends that were by her side during her illness; Susan, Cherri, Jennifer & Sarah. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband of 41 years, Tommy Dowdy, in 1997 & second husband of 13 years, James Chambers, in 2016.
Mildred was a 1956 graduate of Woodrow Wilson HS & a business office manager for Montgomery Ward for 24 years before retiring in 1993. She was a 40 year member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church & member of Agape Love Ladies Class.
Mildred’s final resting place will be Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
