

Mildred Lynn Crawford Jenkins was born in Dallas County on November 5, 1934 to the parents of Lindsey and Anna Mae Crawford. She is the youngest of four children. Mildred received her formal education from Dallas Independent School District as a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
Mildred accepted Christ at an early age. Her childhood church home was Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. She was a quick witted individual, who spoke what was on her mind and heart. Her calling of culinary arts led her to be a head cook within DISD for 20 years, and head cook at several known restaurant's in Dallas until her retirement. Mildred was a giving woman, donating to causes such as the Foundation for Faces of Children, St. Jude Hospital, additional children hospitals, Boys and Girls Clubs, Kidney Foundation, Veteran causes, and giving to the homeless. Mildred was a faithful member of Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ until her health declined.
Mildred was preceded in death by Lindsey and Anna Mae Crawford (parents); her husband, William Jenkins; her eldest son, Billy Ray Turner; her two older sisters, Cleo Washington and Elma Ferguson.
She leaves to cherish memories: Daughter, Cathy Turner Williams (Charles); Son, Rodman L. Turner (Ruby); Grandchildren- LaGayshia Williams Stevenson (Marlow), Charya Williams Juarez (Luis), and Erica Terrell (Danielle); Great Grandchildren- DaJa Stevenson, Christian Stevenson (Chauneci), Lennox Juarez, Danaiya Terrell, and Cedric Cook; Great Great Grandchildren- Isaiah Bailey, Layla Bailey, Ezra Cartagena, Exavier Cartagena, and Skylar Williams; Sister, Joan Graham; She will also be remembered by her cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
