OBITUARY

Miriam Catalina Villajuana Salazar

5 August, 1944 – 12 December, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Miriam Catalina Villajuana, our loving and devoted mother, granny, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on December 12, 2021 at the age of 77 in Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services will be private with Pastor Fred Gersh of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. A private inurnment ceremony will take place at a later date with immediate family at Calvary Hill.

Miriam Catalina was born in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico to Santiago Ortiz Ibarra and Maria Dolores Salazar Piña on August 5, 1944. She immigrated to the United States in 1968 where she met and later married Antonio Villajuana. They were married 27 years, and they worked hard to build a loving home for their three girls. She studied hard to become a US citizen and in April of 2000, her dream came true. She was a proud supporter of Genesis Women's Shelter and St. Judes Hospital, but her main passion was to be with her grandchildren. She loved cheering them on from the sidelines, baking with them, hosting sleepovers, reading stories to them, picking them up from school, and taking them to breakfast or lunch on weekends. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, embroidery, and walking outdoors. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her daughters strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Miriam Catalina is preceded in death by father, Santiago Ortiz Ibarra; mother, Maria Dolores Salazar Piña; siblings, Eduardo Ismael De Atocha Carvajar Salazar, Carlos Enrique Carvajar Salazar, Noemi De Las Mercedes Ortiz Salazar; and her precious grandson, Samuel Adan Contreras.

Miriam Catalina is survived by daughters and spouses: Miriam Imelda Gaytan, Sergio Gaytan; Lizbet Miledy Ramos, Oliver Ramos; Mercedes Noemi Contreras, Alfredo Contreras; siblings: Francisco Javier Ortiz Salazar, Maria Luisa Chac Salazar, Jose Luis Chac Salazar, Jorge Alfonso Chac Salazar, Jose Rafael Chac Salazar; and her precious grandchildren: Avery Anne Ramos, Adam Gaytan, Alexa Grace Gaytan, Elena Danielle Ramos, Isaiah Adan Contreras, & Catalina Rose Contreras.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Genesis Women’s Shelter in her honor: https://www.genesisshelter.org/donate/.

The family of Miriam Catalina wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. & Mrs. Patrick Jenevein; Chosen Hospice Home Care staff; Alex Guerrero, RN; Caretakers: Angelica Subias, Diega Honorato, Yamileth Rios, & Liz Fonseca; and all of those who were a part of her daughters’ support systems. God bless you all.
