She was born on January 1, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to Charles Henry and Anna Louise Glenn. Ora Mae was raised in East Dallas and graduated from Crozier Tech in 1943. The day after graduation she started working at Republic National Bank in downtown Dallas.
She met Ralph Rose while visiting a friend's brother at the Army hospital in Temple, Texas. After weekend visits for a time, she married Ralph on November 24, 1945 in her parent's home.
