

Otila E. Gutierrez, also known as Tila and Tillie, was born on December 13, 1935 in Glidden, Texas and was called home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 89. Otila was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Louis Gutierrez, mother Rufina Rodriguez, father Juan Espinoza, son in law David Cervantes and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Otila is survived by daughters: Wanda Cervantes, Mary Gutierrez-Larson, Barbara Gutierrez and Victoria Gutierrez. Son in law Steve Larson. Grandchildren: Jonathan R. Gutierrez, Ashley A. Alonzo, and David A Cervantes. Sister: Innocencia Ruiz. Sisters In Law: Carmelita Ortiz, Beatrice Perez and Concepcion Gutierrez, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Otila was retired but had worked many years in various positions at various companies. She worked at Titche’s, Baylor Hospital, Neuhoff Meat Packing, Nichols DayCare, Kroger’s Grocery Store, Albertson’s Grocery Store, and finishing it off by being a homemaker. She enjoyed watching sports with her family, was an avid reader, loved music, doing crossword and fill in puzzles, always had the radio on, cooking, bowling and became competitive with Uno, Loteria/Bingo and other games.
The Gutierrez family would like to thank her doctors and the entire staff at Parkland Hospital Neurological ICU & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for their warmth, kindness in caring for our mother during her last days.
Services for Otila are going to be held Monday, January 6, 2025 with the Viewing at 4pm - 8pm, followed by the Holy Rosary at 6:30pm. On Tuesday, January 7, 2025 will be the Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm at the North Chapel Mausoleum. Burial to follow at 2pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery 3235 Lombardy Lane Dallas Texas 75220.
Pallbearers will be: David A. Cervantes, Abel Gonzales Jr, Florencio Escobar, Victor Perez, Christopher Martinez, Edward Guzman. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Victoria Gutierrez and Jonathan R. Gutierrez.
