She was known as “Pat” to her coworkers and some family, “Patty” to her best friend and most of her family members and “Mimi” to her four grandsons.
Born on August 6, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to Leo and Mozelle Anderton, Pat was raised in Pleasant Grove where she attended Piedmont Baptist Church, and graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in 1969 where she was a member of the W.W. Samuell Starlets. Pat married the love of her life, Dan Wilburn, in August of 1969, and together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Together, Dan and Pat welcomed Brandon Hardy in 1976 and then Tiffany Shea in 1981.
Pat and Dan raised Brandon and Tiffany at Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Garland, TX. Pat and Dan served as Sunday school teachers to the 3-year-olds for several years. Pat enjoyed being a leader of Girls in Action at the church when her daughter attended, as she loved being in G.A.’s when she was young.
Pat had a passion for life and a heart for service. In her early career, she worked at a bank before discovering her love for accounting. She went on to serve in accounting at several churches, including St. James Episcopal, Lovers Lane United Methodist, Richardson Baptist, and ultimately retired from Park Cities Baptist Church in 2017.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Dan Wilburn; her children, Brandon Wilburn and Tiffany Young, along with their spouses; and her cherished grandsons, Landon Young, Luke Wilburn, Beckett Young, and Ethan Wilburn. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Anderton and his wife Ruth; her sister, Linda Bracken; many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends who brought joy and companionship to her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mozelle and Leo Anderton; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert Anderton and Eddie Anderton; her niece, Robin Anderton; and her brother-in-law, Phillip Bracken.
Outside of work, Pat found joy in shopping, traveling—especially to the beach. She loved to swim since she was a little girl. She was a lover of all animals, especially the dogs in her life, lover of Dr Pepper, music especially Barry Manilow, playing the piano, makeup, and red cars.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
On behalf of the Wilburn family, please accept our sincere gratitude for your prayers and your outpouring of love and kindness during this difficult time.
