Peggy passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. She was born in St.Louis, MO, on September 15, 1929. She graduated from Normandy High School and Miss Hickey’s Business School in St. Louis and then went on to new adventures as an American Airlines Stewardess in the early ‘50s.
While based in Boston, MA, she agreed to accompany a fellow Stewardess on a double date. On that one blind date in Boston, she met the love of her life, an ex-Marine from Dorchester named Joe. Thus began a 65 year Peg and Joe true love story, with several years in Boston, St. Louis, San Antonio and then 54 years lovingly spent raising a family of four in Dallas. When the kids got older, Peggy passionately jumped into a new career, becoming one of the most successful residential real estate agents in Dallas in the ‘70’s ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Garford Hume, her sister (and best friend for life) Helen Hume Burnett and brother-in law Richard Burnett, and Joe’s brother Leo. Peggy was also predeceased by her two loving daughters Margaret (Muffie) MacDonald Wesner and Mary (Mimi) Wesner Kimbell, whom she thought of daily and missed dearly until her last breath. Along with her husband Joe, Peggy is survived by her son Joe Jr., his wife Sandy and their daughter Sarah and her husband Andrew and their son Gavyn, and son John Garford Wesner, his wife Amy and their sons Ford and Mac, and Mimi’s sons Rocky Kimbell and his children Ella and Ryan, son Joe Kimbell, his wife Sandra and their son Alex and Mimi’s youngest son David Kimbell. Peggy was also a special aunt to her sister’s two sons, Richard and Tom Burnett who reside in St. Louis and to Leo’s four children, Jacquelyn Wesner, Thomas Wesner, Katie Wesner and Christine Wesner, all of whom reside in Boston.
Peggy was a devout Catholic having converted to Catholicism in 1970 after attending services with Joe and the kids for many years and was a lifelong member of Christ The King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Alter Society, The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Kiwi Club (former AA Stews). Peggy was always proud of the fact that she was descended from a Mayflower passenger along with the famous explorer Meriweather Lewis and frontiersman Danial Boone.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peggy will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 25th at Christ The King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX. with a reception to immediately follow at the adjoining Community Center.
A private family interment will be later in the day at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to your favorite charity.
