
Pervis Leo Brown, “PaPa,” died peacefully in hospice care on August 14, 2016, in Arlington Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Pervis is survived by daughter Thelia and her husband James Chaffin; grandsons David Chaffin (and wife Ginger) and Kevin Chaffin of Dallas, and Michael Chaffin (and wife Tina) of San Francisco; great-grandchildren Bailey, Summer, Dawson, Paige, and Conner; sisters Melba Neal (and husband Benny) and Linda Hudnall of Louisiana; and his faithful dog Sammie. He is preceded in death by his wife Clara and brothers Climoth, Johnny, Grady, and Alan. Pervis was born on March 4, 1922, in Jonesville, Louisiana, to William and Chloe Brown. He met his wife Clara Christine Shields in Dallas where they married March 24, 1945. After several shorter term jobs, he worked as head maintenance man at the RSR plant in Dallas for 32 years, retired for about 2 weeks, then worked as maintenance supervisor at La Torre Foods in Grand Prairie for 22 years. He retired for good at age 84. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 18 from 7-8:30 pm at Laurel Land, 6000 South R. L. Thornton Fwy., Dallas. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 19 at 10 am at University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Dr., Fort Worth. All are welcome to attend and celebrate PaPa’s life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Pervis Brown to Universal Health Services, 1208 Country Club Ln, Fort Worth, TX 76112.
