

Phillip Alonzo, Jr. was born on September 11, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, to Rosa Linda Alonzo and Phillip Alonzo, Sr. He grew up in Mesquite, Texas where he attended school and was a big brother to Teresa.
He loved fishing, boating and cars. Phillip taught himself the art of window tinting at 16 years old. His skills quickly developed and he was soon tinting ALL of his friend’s cars, their friend’s cars & their parent’s cars! He graduated from North Mesquite High School with the Class 1988, and then moved on to taking classes at Eastfield College. He soon got a job with Moonshadow and continued his career there until the late 1990’s. He obtained his Real Estate License in 1999, the same year he met the love of his life, Elizabeth. They were married on October 14, 2000.
Phillip was always smiling, laughing and loving life. He was a devoted husband to Elizabeth, and a Dad to their Boxer, Charli. He loved going to gun shows and the firing range, but one of the things that Phillip loved most was spending time with his family, and being an Uncle. He was a good friend to so many and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Tito and Frances Alonzo and his maternal grandmother Juanita Moreno.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Elizabeth Backus Alonzo; his parents, Rosa Linda Alonzo and Phillip Alonzo, Sr; his sister, Teresa Alonzo Pavelka and her husband, Todd; Elizabeth’s parents, James and Ann Sullivan; his brother-in-law, Robert Backus and his wife, Christina; his nieces and nephews, Adrianna and Matthew Pavelka, Kimmi and Heath Backus and his wife, Madisen, and their baby William, Adam Walton and Haley and Zachary Backus; and his grandfather, Jose T. Moreno. He also leaves behind several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, and his beloved Boxer, Charli.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., and on Sunday, August 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 18 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd, Dallas, TX 75238, and will be followed by Interment at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
Following the Interment, a reception for family and friends will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
