Rachel was born February 28, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Donaciano and Guadalupe Hernandez. She attended St. Ann's School for Girls before becoming a beautician in Turtle Creek. Rachel was married to her beloved husband, Genaro Perez, for 52 years. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and Christmas stockings. She was a member of the OLPH Church Rosary Group for many years and was always praying for family and friends. She also volunteered with her best friends at the OLPH school cafeteria during lunch times and helped at their carnivals while her children attended school. Her pastimes included working on puzzles and word searches when she could, and more recently loved watching The Golden Girls, Andy Griffith, and Hallmark movies. She truly enjoyed having her grandkids and great grandkids visit so she could tell them stories about growing up, her favorite customers at the beauty shop, and would always ask them about their boyfriends and girlfriends. She was well known for her fashion sense among family members.
Rachel is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her two sisters, Teresa Hernandez of Dallas, and Maria (Sean) Connolly of San Antonio, sister-in-law Maria Bernal of Dallas, four children, favorite daughter Leticia and husband Beauchamp of Dallas, Raul and wife Kim of Dallas, Joseph Michael Perez of Irving, and Genaro (Jessica) Perez.
