It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randolph Tarbet Leone, age 60 of Dallas, Texas. Randy was a loving husband, father, “Nonno,” son, brother and friend. Born on September 14, 1962 to Dr. Charles Russell Leone, Jr. and Ellen Warren Leone in San Antonio, Texas, Randy was the third of four Leone brothers.
Randy grew up playing competitive tennis in a “tennis family” that was awarded the distinction of Texas Tennis Family of the Year in 1985. He was state ranked in singles and doubles and focused his athletic talent on tennis but also participated in Varsity basketball and diving.
Randy graduated from Robert E Lee High School in San Antonio then attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he received a BS in Biology. While a student at UT, he met and fell in love with “the girl next door” in his college apartment complex. Randy and Ginny married on July 20, 1985 after Randy’s first year of Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He continued his training with an Internship and Radiology Residency at Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where Randy was the Chief Resident. With their young family in tow, Randy and Ginny returned home to Texas where Randy completed his Fellowship in MRI at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Randy began his career as a Radiologist with White Rock Radiology Associates in July of 1995 and in 2012 started a new group, Texas Radiology Specialists, where he was the President and Medical Director until his group merged with American Radiology Associates.
Randy was fun loving and a loyal friend to all who knew him. He excelled at any sport he attempted and continued his love of sports by teaching tennis, playing on numerous softball teams and was an avid skier. Randy’s fierce competitive spirit led him to his passion for the game of golf and gifted him with lifelong friendships at Lakewood Country Club, where he held numerous club championship titles both in tennis and golf. Whether skill or simply Randy Leone luck, he held the bragging rights to five holes in one! Randy’s happy place was any beach or golf course, enjoying time with family and friends.
Taken too soon, Randy is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Ginny; his son Austin Leone and his wife Sabrina; his daughter Lauren Kirksey and her husband Aidan; grandchildren Emmy and Ryan Leone, all of Dallas; his father, Dr. Charles R. Leone Jr.; brothers Charles Leone III, his wife Madelon; Jeffrey Leone, his wife Beverly and Phillip Leone, all of San Antonio. Randy is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Ellen Warren Leone.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 28 at 10:30am, following a 10:00 rosary at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Avenue in Dallas. The family will receive visitors at Lakewood Country Club, 6430 Gaston Avenue immediately following the service.
