Raymond Perez Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and man of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, in DeSoto, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on November 21, 1946, Raymond lived a full and meaningful life marked by integrity, grit, and a deep love for his family.
Raymond lived a life marked by perseverance and purpose. Known for his determination and strong will, Raymond approached life with a quiet strength and relentless drive that inspired everyone around him. From his early days working the farm fields and long hours at a dry cleaners, to handling dairy cows at Texas A&M, Raymond’s tireless work ethic was evident in everything he did. Raymond retired from UPS after many years of dedicated service, but retirement never slowed him down—he returned to work twice after retirement to fulfill his desire to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of logistics professionals.
Raymond was a proud and dedicated usher and deacon at his church, and he cherished his personal relationship with the Lord. His faith guided him throughout his life and inspired those around him. He was known for his determined spirit and strong will—traits that served him well in all he pursued, from his career to his role as a devoted family man.
He was a proud supporter of the Texas A&M Aggies and the Texas Rangers, and he never passed up adding some tabasco sauce to a meal. He found joy in the outdoors and had a fondness for old western movies. Above all, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family, who stood by him, just as he stood by them, until his final days.
Raymond’s life was a testament to the values of loyalty, perseverance, and love. His impact will live on through the family he cherished, the colleagues he inspired, and the countless lives he touched through his faith and work.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Virginia Perez, and his daughter Susanna Cobb. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 60 years, and their 3 children, Yvonne Shaw, Ramona Savage (Ryan), and Raymond Perez Jr. (Megan), and by 10 grandchildren Robert Cobb Jr., Justin Cobb (Veronica), Victoria Alvarado, Tyler Cobb, Shelby Campbell (Adam), Jacob Savage (Audrey), Sarah Savage, Zoe Perez, Zander Perez, Oliver Perez, and 6 great grandchildren, Gabriel Alvarado, Abigail Alvarado, Evelyn Alvarado, William Cobb, Aden Campbell, and Ames Campbell.
