Ray loved being a husband, father, grandfather, parishioner and retired senior citizen. He worked for over 25 years at many jobs in the printing, customer service, and retail industries.
It all started with his first job at Foodtown in Angleton, TX as a bag boy.
After graduation from Angleton high school in Angleton, TX, Ray attended Sam Houston State University on a printing scholarship. At Johnston Printing, his career began after earning his Bachelor’s degree. Ray worked on their four color printing presses.
One day at a Newman Club meeting, while attending Holy Spirit parish, he met the love of his life, Pat. It was a true sign of their commingled destiny that this couple coming from both sides of the country shared their Czech heritage.
After dating for some time, the couple fell in love and married at St. Monica’s on August 23, 1969. Ray later worked at Federal Envelope to support his stay-at-home wife and help raise their three boys until 1986.
At Federal Envelope, Lew Parent, Ray’s supervisor is the best proof of his lovable character. Lew agreed to be his second son’s godfather. A boss for a godfather is a rarity for sure, but it tells of the exclusiveness of Ray’s faith family.
Ray loved his family and his faith. He was active in the Men’s Club, Marriage Encounter, Engaged Couple Sponsor Program, Knights of Columbus, Men’s Bible study, and the Over 55 Club. But far above all other activities, Ray loved to sing in the St. Pius X Church choir.
In 1998, Ray welcomed his first daughter-in-law. And in 2003, Ray became a grandpa.
By 2014, his wife, Pat joined Ray in their new life of retirement. He enjoyed Silver Sneakers classes, visiting friends, traveling, dining out, playing the organ, and life in general.
His most treasured activities were watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, spending time with his family, grandkids, eating tasty food, and praying his daily rosary.
Ray is survived by his sons, Ron Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Jeff Syblik of Forney, TX, and Martin Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX; his daughters-in-law, Karen Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Jennifer Syblik of Forney, TX, and Rachel Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX; his grandsons, C.J. & Bobby Syblik of Mesquite, TX, Joshua Syblik of Forney, TX, Matthew Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX, and his long awaited granddaughter, Madeline Syblik of Sunnyvale, TX.
Ray, we pray, now rests in the arms of his loving, Savior, Jesus Christ in the company of all his angels and saints. Ray was a kind, caring person whose sister-in-law, Mary Lou Furry summed up, “He was Ray to the end.” Yet, he was that despite suffering with dementia since 2021.
And for that sparkle in his eye and more, he will forever be missed by so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in the Syblik name to the St. Pius X Dallas Ministry of Men.
A rosary will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:30 A.M. with mass following at 12:00 P.M. at St. Michael the Archangel, 950 Trails Parkway, Garland, TX 75043. A reception will follow.
Ray will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Pat in Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX.
