Rejane Dufour, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2016 in Dallas TX. She was born in Swansea, Massachusetts on April 21, 1927 to the late Albert Paquette and Esma LeBoeuf Paquette. She was married in 1953 to Raymond J.Dufour, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Rejane attended Case High School and Thibodeau Business College and worked in the banking industry prior to her marriage. She and Raymond moved their young family to Houston Texas in the early 1960’s where he pursued a successful career with the Gulf Oil Corporation. They raised 5 children together, including an intellectually disabled daughter. Rejane enjoyed many hobbies and interests – she was a master gardener, an accomplished seamstress, a painter and ceramist and had wonderful skill with interior decorating. She loved cooking and holidays and being around family and friends. She was creative, funny, determined and energetic. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Rejane is survived by her five children – Louise Dufour Murphy and husband Frank; Julie Dufour Loomis and husband Chris; Jean Marc Dufour and wife Jeanie; Elaine Dufour Small and husband Chad and her beloved daughter Emilie Dufour. Her nine grandchildren include Jonathan Murphy and wife Kristin; Christine Aylor and husband John; David Loomis and husband Ben; Brian Loomis; Danielle Pianetto and husband Sam; Jacqueline Dufour and fiancé Caleb; Julie Dufour; Alexandria Small and Grant Small. 3 precious great- granddaughters joined her family in 2015 – Madeline Murphy, Alana Pianetto and Ada Aylor.
The family would like to extend their thanks to several special staff members at Sunrise Hillcrest who so lovingly cared for Rejane over the last months. Special recognition goes to Fatuma Mwende, who was a devoted companion and caregiver as well.
The visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, April 24. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas Texas on Monday, April 25 at noon with Father Wally Sidney, S.J. and Deacon Tim Muldoon officiating. Rejane will be interred at Forest Park in the Woodlands Texas on Tuesday, April 26 at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to My Possibilities in Plano Texas.
