Richard moved to Dallas as a young boy and lived here most of his life. Dick graduated from North Texas State and had many careers, several in the insurance industry, as well as other entrepreneurial ventures. As a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, Dick served in many capacities, including elder and member of numerous boards and committees. Dick was particularly active in ministries that serve the most fragile and marginalized members of our community.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and daughter, Emily.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances; daughter, Ellen (Chuck) Avery; Frances' daughters: Johanna (Neville) Runnels, Kathy (Rick) Laymon, and Heidi (Charles) Fergason; nine grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
Memorial service Tuesday, January 22 at 3pm, First Presbyterian Church chapel.
