

Robert (Bob) C. Muchmore, age 90, passed away February 28, 2016. Bob was born in Dallas, Texas on December 13, 1925. Bob is preceded in death by his former wife, Jane Lloyd Muchmore Cantwell; his parents, Ernest Cleo Muchmore and Lena Mae Carrigan Muchmore and his older brother who passed away as an infant before Bob was born, Harry Frank Muchmore.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert Charles Muchmore, Jr of Houston, Texas; his daughter Margaret Muchmore Smith and her husband, Ronald Martin Smith of Montrose, Colorado; his cousin Jerry Petty and wife Diane; his nephews Andrew and Chris Thomas of Austin, Texas and Washington D C and his loving greyhound, Carlie.
Bob graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas where he was a member of the band playing the clarinet and participated in the award winning Oak Cliff Drum and Bugle Corp playing the bugle. After graduation, Bob entered the Army Air Corp at age 17 and trained as a navigator and always regretted that the war ended before he had a chance to further serve his country. He received an Honorable Discharge as an Aviation Cadet in September 1945. Bob went on to obtain his BA degree from Southern Methodist University in January 1949 and then went on to receive his Law Degree from SMU in August 1951 and passed the law exam in December 1951 and was licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas. Bob served in the Army Air Corp Reserve, Air Force Reserve and the Texas Air National from September 1945 until April 1970 starting out as a Second lieutenant and reached the rank of Capitan. Bob was commissioned as an Admiral of the Texas Navy in April 1961.
Bob loved his SMU Mustangs and followed all their sporting events. He especially enjoyed attending the SMU Football games right up through their 2015 season. Bob was a member of the Golden Mustangs and the Dedman School of law Alumni.
Bob joined The Chapel of the Cross, A Reformed Episcopal Church, in about 1990 and sang in the choir for a number of years until his health prevented him continuing in the Choir although he continued to keep in close contact with the choir members and celebrated his 89th and 90th birthdays with many of the choir members he enjoyed and loved so much. He served as Chancellor of the church for a period of time and was well known for his solo of the prelude to the U S Air Force anthem at church Fourth of July events and playing the wise man Balthasar for Christmas services for several years.
There will be a viewing and family visitation from 5:30pm – 9:00pm on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218. On Saturday, March 5, 2016 there will be a Funeral Service/Requiem Communion at noon at The Chapel of the Cross, 4333 Cole Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Following the Funeral Service there will be a reception and celebration of Bob’s life in the Parish Hall at The Chapel of the Cross. At 2:30, the funeral procession will be leaving the church and proceeding to Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuel Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228 for a 3:00 graveside service with military honors.
Bob requested prior to his death that instead of flowers, contributions be made to The Chapel of the Cross, Gifts and Memorials – Robert C Muchmore, 4333 Cole Avenue, Dallas, TX 75205.
