

Today we celebrate a life well-lived. A favorite son, father, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew and most of all, a favorite husband, Rodney LeBrian Baker. After high school looking for a new adventure, Rodney joined the Army. After serving three years in the military, he decided to join the workforce in the private sector. Rodney spent four years working at the Dallas VA, and the next 34 years working at the Bulk Mail Center, as a mail handler. Although Rodney's final days were filled with many of life ups and downs, he still managed to keep his spirits up every time he had an opportunity to fire-up the grille. Next's to loving his family and loving God, Rodney's next greatest love was barbecuing. He spent many hours watching over many cuts of meats on the grille to share with family and friends. But what is most important was his acknowledgement of his love for God and giving his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He joined his family in attending Cedar Hill Bible Fellowship Church in Cedar Hill Texas. Rodney's earthly journey started with him bursting on the scene as his mother's one and only favorite son on New Years Day 1964. He was born to the parentage of the late Leon Baker, and Francis Baker, in Queen City, TX. He was the eldest of two children. With his sister Toni Baker rounding out a loving family. Rodney graduated from Transportation High School in Dallas, Texas, in 1983. After graduating high school, he joined the Army, and after discharge he went to work in the private sector workforce. Rodney met and married the love of his life, Sundra Evette Peterson. They married on September 29, 1989. To their union are three children. Rodney leaves to cherish his precious a loving wife; Sundra, two daughters, one son and many others are left to mourn his passing. They are daughters; Crystal L. Jackson, and Angelica N. Baker, and son Trey S. Baker, granddaughters; Diamond N. Baker, Mahryah L. Jackson, Iyona, M. Jules(Baker), Ava Baker, Avanna Baker, and Brian Jackson. Mother-in-law Linda R. Peterson (Carolyn W. Peterson), Father-in-law; Louis Peterson, Sister-in law; Cherry L. Peel, Stacie D. Baker, Christina C. Hurd, Brother-in-law; Otis Peel, Jeremy P. Hurd, and Anthony D. Baker (who preceded him in death) nephews; Louis V Peterson, Otis Peel Jr, Anthony Baker Jr, Avery Baker, and Jeremiah Hurd. Nieces: Scottlyn Hurd, Jaycee Hurd, and Hanna Baker all are left behind and mourn his passing.
From Rodney's side of the family, he leaves a sister; Toni R. Baker, nieces; Tanycia Baker, Portia Timms, Jazelle Baker, and nephews; Aundre Baker, Gerrard Baker. Grandchildren; Kelton Traylor Jr, Laila Traylor, Londyn Baker, Maddison Duncan, Leniyah Baker, Yazmine Baker, Nicole Baker, D'Mahryae Timms, Decorian Timms, Deuntae Timms, and De'Kimean Wheatly.
