Roy L. Ramsey

Roy L. Ramsey Sr. was born in Gainesville, Tx. on July 27, 1927 to Samuel George and Elta Mae Hooten Ramsey. One of nine children he is survived by one sister, Mary Wilkins of Pearland, Tx., and one brother, James Ramsey of Waxahachie, Tx. Roy went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2016 to join his family in Heaven. He served in the Army and later worked as a Switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. After 36 years with the telephone company, he retired in 1986. Roy was a handy person who enjoyed working around his home and was proficient with electrical and plumbing projects. He was an organized person who enjoyed reading and was also interested in Meteorology and Ophthalmology. He listened to all kinds of music and practiced playing the organ often. He loved trains and airplanes and would spend hours watching programs about both. Roy was preceded in death by his youngest son, John Ramsey, his daughter, Dana McGowan, her husband, Vorney and her son, Stacy Lee McGowan. His surviving children are his son Roy Ramsey Jr. of Plano, Tx. His daughter, Brenda Sherrell, and husband, Rick of Garland, Tx. His grandson, Dr. Jason Sherrell and wife, Megan of Montgomery, Tx. His grand-daughter, Jennifer Kam and husband, David and great grand-daughter, Brynlee of McKinney, Tx. His grand-daughter, Traci McRae and husband Mike of Daingerfield, Tx. His great grandson, Joshua Conger and wife, Sara of Fort Polk, La. His great grand-daughter, Hannah Jones and great-great grandsons, Aydin and Elliott of Palmer, Tx. His great-grandson, Justin McGowan and wife Lindsey great-great grand-daughters Makala, Haylee, Gemma, Kierstyn and Izabealla and great-great grandsons Jaysen and Lehvi of Tool, Tx.He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews who love him.
