

Russell "Rusty" Wayne Wyman Sr. passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 68. Born on June 8, 1956, in Dallas, Rusty was the beloved son of Charles Anderson Wyman Sr. and Kathleen Wyman. As the youngest of three siblings, he grew up alongside his older brother, Charles Anderson Wyman Jr., and his older sister, Kristina Wyman.
Rusty maintained a strong connection to his hometown throughout his life. He graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1974 and lived down the street from his childhood home. A devoted subscriber to the Dallas Morning News for over 40 years and a long-time AT&T customer, he cherished tradition and consistency in his daily life.
Rusty’s enthusiasm for bowling and competitive table soccer was evident to all who knew him. In 1977, he achieved a significant milestone by clinching first place in the North Texas Table Soccer Association’s doubles tournament. It was through his love for foosball, along with the support of family and mutual friends, that he met Raquel Benavidez. On January 12, 1984, Rusty and Raquel Benavidez Wyman were married, embarking on a journey together that would lead to a lifelong bond.
Professionally, Rusty was a dedicated and esteemed member of the United Association (UA) of Journeymen and Apprentices. He pursued his education at Eastfield College and Washtenaw Community College in Michigan before joining the UA Local 100’s Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) program. Through his hard work and dedication, he earned his Master Plumber and Plumbing Inspector licenses.
Rusty's passion for his trade extended well beyond his job. He worked as an Instructor for the UA Local 100 and served as the Chief Plumbing and Mechanical Code Administrator for the City of Dallas, a role in which he was highly respected. In 2005, Rusty co-founded the Association for the Advancement of Codes, Education and Standards (A-ACES), an organization committed to continuing education within the piping industry. Under his leadership, A-ACES ensured that revenue from educational courses was reinvested into essential oversight activities related to industry codes and standards.
Rusty's steadfast dedication to excellence and education has profoundly affected the Texas plumbing community, forging a legacy defined by his unwavering commitment and vast knowledge.
Rusty is preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles Anderson Wyman Sr., and Kathleen Wyman, as well as his brother Charles Anderson Wyman Jr. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Raquel Wyman; his sons Russell Wyman Jr. and Robert Wyman; his daughter-in-law Heather Tickner Wyman; and his sister, Kristina Wyman. Additionally, he is survived by his in-laws, cousins, and countless nieces and nephews.
Rusty's solid dedication to his work and community will inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. May his memory bring strength and comfort to those who mourn his passing.
