Sallie Madden Brockington, born on March 1, 1941, in Harrison County (Hebron Community), departed this life on May 29, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Willie George Madden and Willie Mae Mitchell Madden.
Sallie's early years were shaped by her education at Mary C. Womack High School and her spiritual upbringing at Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, where she cultivated her strong faith and values.
In her youth, she met the love of her life, Jimmie L. Brockington, while they both worked at Wyatt’s Cafeteria in Longview, TX. Their love blossomed, leading to over 50 years of marriage and a new chapter in Dallas beginning in 1963.
After relocating to Dallas, Sallie became a devoted member of Forest Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. With her ever-present servant's heart, it was only natural that she dedicated 30 years of faithful service to the church's Ushers Ministry.
Much of Sallie's professional life was spent at JCPenney. Throughout her 35-year tenure, she was recognized for delivering exceptional customer service across multiple departments until her retirement.
Sallie was preceded in death by her father, Willie George Madden; her mother, Willie Mae Madden; great grandson Julian Brockington; brothers Cecil Madden, Charles Madden, George Madden, James Madden, Lonnie Madden, Robert Madden, and Paul Madden; sisters Vallie Rodgers and Doris Richardson; and her cherished fur baby, Stella.
She is survived by her brothers Augusta Madden of Longview, TX and Louis Madden Sr. (Omia) of Longview, TX; her sisters Annie Pearl Johnson of Longview, TX, and Ora Starks (Lonnie) of Dallas, TX; her stepchildren Jimmie L. Brockington Jr. of Dallas, TX; Jeannette Smith of Dallas, TX; and Steve Brockington of Moore, OK; godchildren Kerry Brinkley and Kendra Brinkley both of DeSoto, TX and dear friend Cheryl Noel; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
