Samuel Robert Parker, son of William H. Parker and Virginia Gray in Milford Texas, born September 7, 1921, passed away on October 28, 2016. He is survived by his two sons, Roland Parker of Basalt, Colorado and Paul Parker of Breckenridge, Colorado. Sam graduated from Baylor University in 1945. He married fellow music student Emma Lou White on December 2, 1945, in Dallas. Both Sam and Emma Lou were church organists, and Sam worked as an accountant for Dallas Resources. Sam was organist for Highland Park Presbyterian Church from 1946 to 1976, after which he continued to play at Casa Linda Presbyterian, and New Covenant Presbyterian before retiring from his regular service. Sam remained an active member of Highland Park Presbyterian and volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital where he often played piano in the reception area to the enjoyment of patients and visitors. If desired, memorials may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75205. A visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway Dallas, TX 75225, on Thursday, November 3rd from 5:30pm-7:30pm. A private burial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on November 4th and followed by a memorial service at Highland Park Presbyterian Church at 1:00pm.
