Sylvia Weiner Cohen born November 28, 1920 to Sam and Pearl Weiner in Brooklyn, New York. Sylvia married the love of her life, Lenny Cohen, in 1936 and was married to him for 59 years. After World War II, they moved to Dallas with their 3 year old daughter, Susan. Steven and Marcy completed the family in Dallas. Sylvia was a loving housewife and mother and was the center of the family’s life. Sylvia loved to volunteer and delivered “Meals on Wheels” for many years. Because of her knowledge of Yiddish, she was able to help transition Russian Immigrants into life in Dallas. She enjoyed her bowling, Mah Jong, and Pan. She was preceded in death by her parents and Lenny. Sylvia is survived by her children, Susan Babendure of Houston, Steven and Cindy Cohen of Highlands Ranch, Co. and Marcy Jordan and Charlie Cooper of Irving, TX. She also has 4 grandchildren, Shawn, Pia, Nicole and Matt and her twin great-grandchildren, Avi and Eli. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Thursday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the S.P.C.A. of Dallas or the charity of your choice.
