Tantirige Ranjit Antony Ruberu, age 81, passed away on January 24, 2022 in Plano, Texas. He was born on July 11, 1940 in Lunawa, Sri Lanka to Dona Claribel and Tantirige Walter Alexander Ruberu. Ranjit was raised in Kirulapone, Sri Lanka, and graduated from St. Peter’s College and S-Polytechnic College. He was a Senior Engineering Specialist at Global Risk Consultants.
Ranjit married Marie Silva in 1964, and the couple had 5 children. Ranjit loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, chatting with his friends and family around the globe, and “generating neurons” through professional and intellectual pursuits. He also loved dancing, singing Christmas Carols and Sinhala Baila songs, traveling, fishing, watching movies and football (especially the Dallas Cowboys), eating Sinhalese food, watching July 4th and New Year’s fireworks, sharing stories and lessons learned throughout his life, attempting DIY repairs, teaching and guiding others, and engaging in lengthy discussions about Catholic Apologetics, politics, and current events. His family and friends will always remember him as a gentle, patient, forgiving, fun-loving, intelligent, loyal, and faithful pillar of strength, peace, and love.
Ranjit is preceded in death by his parents, Dona and Walter Ruberu, his son, Mario Daniel Alexander Ruberu, and his grandchildren, Isabella, Kristopher, Matthew, Isabella, and Therese. His pet, Dynamite, also preceded him.
Ranjit is survived by his children: Maria Wiemann and her husband Konrad, Maryse Ruberu, Michael Ruberu and his wife Katie, Monique Ruberu and her husband Gerard Wijeyeratne. His loving grandchildren are Natalia Wiemann, Lancelot Wiemann, Maximillian Wiemann, Mario Ruberu, Julian Wiemann, Mariana Ruberu, Malachi Ruberu, Blaize Wijeyeratne, Xavier Wijeyeratne, Magdelena Ruberu, Elize Wijeyeratne, Maia Ruberu, Maria Ruberu, and Samuel Ruberu. His younger brother, Kevin Ruberu and wife Sunethra, and their children Druvi and Sacha live in Australia. He also has many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews in Sri Lanka; especially Monica, Melroy, Sanju, Sharon and Melvin.
Ranjit was a devoted Pro-Life Catholic. He was passionate about his faith, culture, and beliefs. He found great joy and immense pride in his children and grandchildren, who will never stop loving and missing his strong spirit and gentle soul. They are consoled to know their sweet Dad and “Seeya” is now experiencing the joy and peace of eternal life with our Precious Lord Jesus Christ.
