A celebration of life does not mean that life is over…
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you
to be uninformed about those who sleep in death,
so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind,
who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died
and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring
with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who
are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord,
will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,
with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel
and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in
Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive
and are left will be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Therefore encourage one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV)
About my mom...
She was a daddy's girl - so much so that he would put ads in the Mabank newspaper inviting all her friends to the Matex Theatre to celebrate her birthday! (He owned the theatre)
She was always late - ALWAYS!!!! And she expected you to wait on her with a smile on your face. Until she met Lyle. When she showed up on time for things it was almost scary - we no longer had to tell her to be there 2 hours early!
If she hadn't met Lyle, she would have been late to her own funeral!
SHE LOVED LOVED LOVED TO EAT!!!!!! If you were ever in the car with her and got hungry, she would pull out some food for you to snack on.
She never met a stranger.
She loved her grandbabies! Amber, Michael, Kevin, Doug, and Jeffrey
She was successful in Real Estate for almost 40 years but still couldn't check her email
One of the most disorganized and messy people you would ever meet!!!
She had to have been born with a phone in her hand, we thought we were going to have to surgically remove it one day
She had a huge personality! The brighter the clothes the better, the bigger the earrings, the more she loved them. You could see her coming from a mile away.
She gave the craziest gifts you would ever see - they would bring hours of laughter afterwards.
It was hysterical when she would get scared…she would run as fast as she could in place and not go anywhere!
She was a pack rat, just like her daddy. She had so many clothes that she would take up every closet in the house and leave no room for anyone else's stuff. Just ask Lyle how many pairs of shoes she had!
EVERYTHING was an emergency to her - she would call you with the tiniest thing, but it was a dire emergency to her.
She was overly dramatic and animated.
She had a lot of love to give - thank God she had the last year of her life with Lyle. Thank you Lyle for making our mother so very happy!
Lyle and Tenna Cee's initial meeting - Lyle had been praying for God to bring him someone and one night at a dance, Tenna Cee was out on the dance floor with someone else. A gentleman always escorts a lady from the dance floor, but this man didn't. He just walked off the floor and left her standing there…it was then that Lyle saw her. He says she just glowed, and he knew that she was for him and God had answered his prayer. He walked out and asked her to dance and together they danced the rest of the night…and the rest of her life.
Once Lyle had taken her to get her hair done. He left her there and when he returned he saw a lady from the back with her same red hair and height and build - walked up and said "hey honey, you ready to go?" The lady turned and looked at him and it was not Tenna Cee! Later when they were laughing about it, Lyle told Tenna Cee "I'm bound to end up with a red-head one way or the other!"
We love you Nana and will miss you! We will see you again soon!!
And ye now therefore have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. John 16:22 (KJV)
