Mr. Thurman "Sunny" King, Sr.

Thurman (Sunny) King, Sr. was born on Monday, October 23, 1933 to the parents of Robert Fletcher and Blanche Howard in Paris, Texas. Thurman later moved to Dallas, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School class of 1951. Thurman later attended Prairie View A&M and from there he was drafted into the United States Army where he served from 1956 to 1962. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he started to work for the United States Postal Service and worked several jobs over the years. He later worked for and retired from FORD Motor Company in 1998. He was a faithful member of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending Sunday School and bible study until his health began to fail.

Thurman was called to be with the LORD on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Preceding him in death was his mother, Blanche Howard; Father, Robert Fletcher and his eldest son Thurman King, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Erma J. King; three sons, Herman, Ferman and Sherman King and a grandson, Marquis Harris who they raised from a child until an adult.

He is also survived by his brother, Tom King and three sisters, Mildred Brashear, Robin Rollins and Patricia Brunson. He has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
