

Tobey Marino admired, respected and very much loved husband, brother, brother-in-law, cousin and friend passed away on April 30 at high noon peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 28, 1927 to Roy Joe and Marie De John Marino. Graduated from Crozier Tech High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 on the U.S.S. Wright. He faithfully attended Christ the King Catholic Church for many decades where he served as an usher and gave of his time and finances as building consultant for the church. Returning to Dallas, Texas he founded M&M Construction Co. He was a home and apartment builder and developer. He was a pioneer in the 50’s in the development of the apartments in the Preston Center and “behind the pink wall.” Later on he built, owned and managed apartment complexes in the Knox Street area. He was one of the first to build custom luxury duplexes which included Preston Hollow’s Boedecker and Villa Park Circle. Tobey loved the land business and during his most successful career developed several residential communities with various partners, such as Remuda in Kerrville, Texas and White Rock’s Huff Trail. He learned to ski at age 60 and enjoyed many years on the slopes of Vail/Beaver Creek with his ski buddies. He learned to dance at age 80 and looked forward to his Saturday date night with his wife. He is survived by his wife Vangy Marino and her children Kevin Furlong and wife LuAnn of Coppell and Karen Furlong of Farmers Branch. He is also survived by Vangy Marino’s two grandchildren, Eric Furlong and Kelly Furlong; sister Allene Andrews and husband Andy of Dallas along with their children Debra Marroquin of Dallas and Donna Riegel of Pilot Point, Texas; cousins, Michael Marino, Frank Marino and Tommy Marino and their families along with other numerous cousins, friends and fabulous ski-friends. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with the recitation of the rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 4, at high noon in the North Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery with entombment to follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Hill.
