Velma graduated at 19 from Crozier Tech with a cosmetology degree. She was a beauty operator for over 50 years in Dallas, Texas. Velma was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Texas Ranger fan and she never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. Velma loved dancing and traveling with her beloved husband John Schlabaugh. Her happiest moments were birthdays and holidays when all of her family gathered together, laughing and sharing their stories. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved and cared for her. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Carter, six grandkids and their spouses 13 great grandkids and two great great grandkids. Velma was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, 5 brothers. Her son Ronald Wyrick and wife Marilyn Wyrick her daughter Rhonda Schad and son in law Richard Schad, grandson Chase Carter and great grandson Dakota Brooks.
The family greatly appreciates your thoughts and prayers. Velma will be laid to rest along with generations of her family at Grove Hill in Dallas, Texas.
