Mrs Vera Leona Russell was born February 22nd 1936 to Tommie & Jessie Russell in Hillsboro, Texas. She was of 10 children. She attended Peabody School during her elementary and High School years. At a young age she became a member of Emanuel Temple Church of God and Christ in Hillsboro, Texas. She was a member of the choir and a VERY active member in the church.
She later moved to Dallas Texas. She worked at Texas Instruments for over 30 years. After she retired from Texas Instruments she became a CNA and took care of people.
She was small in size, but had a heart and personality bigger than life. She would help anyone. She was very spunky. She was very straight forward. If she didn't like something, in such a polite way without saying a word, you knew it.
Vera Russell LOVED the Lord! She was an Evangelist & she was an "Ordained Minister."She was a longtime faithful member of Full Gospel Holy Temple Church for 45+years. She was saved and baptized with the Holy ghost under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias Murray and Evangelist Dr Shirley Murray. After transitioning home of the late Apostle Lobias Murray she continued to be a faithful member under the leadership of Apostle Herman l Murray Jr and Lady Danielle Murray until she transitioned home. Minister/Evangelist Vera Russell was involved in many things in the church. She worked with Dr Shirley Murray with the women Called to Duty Ministry. She also did ministry work in nursing homes. She was a Sunday School and Seminar teacher. She was a participant in many choirs. Her favorite choir was Mother's Mission/Women of Zion. She loved to sing praises to the Lord. One of her favorite songs was, Sign me up for the Christian Jubilee. She was also the Secretary of the Women of Zion Choir. She sang with a group call the Angelic Singers of Zion. Evangelist Russell also served in Outreach Ministries. She ministered in several nursing homes and HiRise facilities where God would pour out his Spirit and many people was saved and healed.
Minister/Evangelist Russell pinned a booklet titled " Restoration or Ruin", she was an inspiring woman of God to the young as well as the old, highly respected and deeply loved.
She LOVED her family. There is nothing that she would not do for her family. She had SO MUCH love to spread around. Every niece no matter how big, small or how old you were, she called them "Little Girl." Everyone LOVED it! She was ALWAYS happy and willing to help anyone. Whenever you were around her whether it was family or friends, there was NEVER any doubt of how much love she had for them.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Tommie Russell, her mother, Jessie Russell, her sisters, Fannie Lucille Toplin, Iva Lee McKenzie, Emma Jane Russell and Adine Erwin,

She leaves to mourn her brother, John Russell of Dallas,Texas, sister in law Anne Russell of New Port Virginia, 2 best friends Billie Miller & Margaret Jones of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.
